"Give a HEART" Project

As part of our commitment to our community, the Compassionate Hearts UNITED Foundation, Inc., has launched the "Give a HEART" Project.

Mental disorders are among the most common causes of disability. The resulting disease burden of mental illness is among the highest of all diseases. In any given year, an estimated 18.1% (43.6 million) of U.S. adults ages 18 years or older suffered from any mental illness and 4.2% (9.8 million) suffered from a seriously debilitating mental illness. Neuropsychiatric disorders are the leading cause of disability in the United States, accounting for 18.7% of all years of life lost to disability and premature mortality. Moreover, suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States, accounting for the deaths of approximately 43,000 Americans in 2014. More than ever, we need to fight the mental health crisis that is covering our nation and, together, we can do it.

In CHUF, we are committed to bringing awareness to this important cause and that's why we offer many free resources that not only can help those in need but that can also help community members in becoming agents of positive social change. If we unite forces against the mental health stigma, we will be able to create a community in which we all can be there for each other.

The truth is that we are all in this together and it is our responsibility to care for each other, and today is the day to "Give a HEART" about mental health.
